2010 Lincoln Alumni International Medal Citation - D. F. Rendall

A portrait of D. F. Rendall (1969-72 BAgrSc, MAgrSc (Hons)), the Alumni International Medallist, 2010. David has worked extensively and successfully in the international development arena for the past 30 years. It is a career built on his Lincoln University education and New Zealand employment experience. David graduated from Lincoln College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science in Economics and Farm Management, and then completed a Master of Agricultural Science with Honours in Agricultural Economics. David was head-hunted to join ANZDEC-New Zealand’s leading international agricultural consultancy. Through ANZDEC he took up a two-year assignment in Pakistan on a project assisted by the Food and Agricultural Organisation. He subsequently joined the International Fund for Agricultural Development in Rome as a Project Controller, responsible for the development and implementation from 1983-1988. In 1991 he worked providing implementation support and fiduciary oversight to IFAD agricultural investments in Asia and the Pacific. Progressively moving into management positions he led the United Nations Office for Project Services in post-crisis situations in East Timor and Iraq. In 2004 he was appointed as Regional Director for East and Southern Africa.
