      Monthly Summary

From 18th and 22nd there was a slight haziness, presumably due to the smoke from bush fires on the West Coast. Month notable for high average of barometer prevalence of N. E. instead of customary N. W. winds, lack of rain although it appeared to threaten rain several times.

Month very dry, stock on the average doing very well but midcalving/midcalf cows are feeling need of some green grass. Lambs doing fairly well but rape crops not very promising owing to wet Nov. and Dec. and dry spell now. Cereal crops promise very well and have ripened up very quickly during past fortnight. Wheat
