Simon Swaffield appropriately observes that "we must examine carefully the expectations we collectively (university and profession) place upon landscape architecture graduates, for in seeking technical proficiency in a large and expanding core area of knowledge and skills, we run the risk of stifling the creativity, and the critical and reflective thinking that ultimately underpins both design, and a university education. ”
