Vision: The Christchurch Water Park redefines the way we play. Located in the red zone in an urban environment, it will be Christchurch’s latest tourist activity and aim to attract a large audience from locals to international visitors, giving locals the opportunity to try a new sport which previously is limited, while aiming to enhance community participation. While capable of holding national and international events. Christchurch Water Park will be open all year round and offer wet and dry, warm and cold activities, from wakeboarding and skateboarding to biking and leisure. Fitting into New Zealand’s extreme based activities surrounding water. Christchurch needs an attraction, to stay away from being the gateway to the South Island, taking advantage of one of the only cities where you can surf ski and skate in one day and providing an urban based water park in Christchurch red zone bringing it to life.

The Core facility will be the cable park for wakeboarding and water skiing, towed by an electrical tower around the aquifer sourced lake from a beginner to an expert route. The Park also offers a safe swimming location with diving boards, basketball courts, playgrounds and other forms of recreation surrounding water, with bars and cafes to enjoy and socialise. The sport will grow and expand with the next generation and develop into a more recognised sport in New Zealand, capable of holding National and International events. The park aims to connect with other nearby proposed facilities, forming a recreational water-based hub.

Wetlands will help infiltrate the Avon River while taking into account climate change and sea level rising offering storm water storage. Cleaning our waterways and increasing the biodiversity providing new habitat and more sustainable environment.

The Park will be a safe, sustainable, environmentally friendly and brighten up the red zone, encouraging people to be active and help improve physical and mental wellbeing.
