Publicity was an immediate and all-important task once the DipLA course was set up (1969), followed by the Institute of Landscape Architects (1972). The profession was little known, let alone understood, in New Zealand and there were very few examples of work done by landscape architects. So, the lecturers at Lincoln undertook project work alongside teaching and set up a college consulting service for a period so they could demonstrate what landscape architecture had to offer.
