“I taught a landscape planning course”

Allan Rackham was a senior lecturer in landscape architecture at Lincoln from 1980 to 1983 and was then Director of Landscape Architectural Studies there from 1983 to 1985, after Charlie Challenger retired. Alan had trained at the Gloucestershire College of Art and Design in Cheltenham, and worked for some years as a landscape architect in England before coming to New Zealand.

Here, Allan recalls the new approach he brought to teaching landscape planning and reflects on the advantages and limitations of Lincoln as place to teach landscape architecture.
