High achieving student Rhonda Jacques is finding Lincoln’s Master of Professional Accounting (MPA(CPA)) degree the right choice for her, scoring high distinction grades in two CPA courses.
After parenting for 20 years, she decided the time was right to upskill and “get back in the workforce”.
The MPA(CPA) provides extensive academic support for candidates considering enrolling, or currently enrolled, in globally-recognised accounting body CPA Australia's CPA Program.
She started a graduate diploma at Lincoln in 2017 in accounting in order to meet the foundation requirements for a CPA/CA designation and ultimately work as an accountant, and performed well.
“I finished in June this year and over the two years received prizes for being top in four subjects.
“I applied for graduate roles at accounting firms and got a position at Deloitte, which I start in February.
“I had eight months until I started work so I decided I would get a head start on my professional (accounting) exams through studying the MPA(CPA).
She said the advantage of this was she would then have less exams to do while working fulltime and bringing up a family.
“I can also continue with the MPA(CPA) part-time while working.”
The MPA(CPA) is also offered online, so students from around the world can study in real-time in a classroom like environment.
Rhonda said the support of the lecturers and staff had been invaluable over her time at Lincoln.
“I did not expect to be where I am today and probably wouldn’t been if it wasn’t the supportive and encouraging environment.”
