The addition of a new minor option in Lincoln bachelor’s degrees should strike a chord with prospective students.
Accounting, Economics, Finance, Global Business, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management Minors can be taken as part of any Bachelor’s degree, adding depth and versatility to what could be a quite different major.
They are studied throughout the three years of the degree, and will be noted on a student’s transcript.
The breadth of study they offer can enhance a graduate’s employability, with the extra insights and knowledge they give valuable in many jobs.
A minor may also meet an interest while studying a major focused on a particular career path, and become an extra facet on a curriculum becoming more important in a fluid job market.
Lincoln students can also take an additional major in a range of topics, again to add depth to their degrees.
Offering topics such as environmental studies, they ensure students are prepared to meet challenges, and are able to approach them from a unique way with their combination of subjects.
Dr Jeff Heyl, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Agribusiness and Commerce, said he felt it was something there was a demand for among the students.
“When students heard we were reinstating the minors there were a lot of enquiries.
“It’s about offering choice and utilising the variety and quality of courses we have across the University as another way to ensure we produce graduates who are adaptable and capable through having a broad knowledge base.”
