The philosophy for life for the Lincoln University graduate is a "can do" attitude, said the 2008 Bledisloe Medallist Sam Robinson of Hawkes Bay, in his acceptance speech at Lincoln University´s Graduation Ceremony.

Sam, who is a BAgrSc (Hons) graduate of Lincoln from the 1970s, praised the staff who taught his generation as "wonderfully wise, patient and perceptive people".

"To me Lincoln University is about solutions," he said. "We were taught to ask 'Why not?´"

He told this year´s assembled graduates that in the future whenever they were faced with any of life´s problems they should remember that Lincoln graduates are "can do people".

Sam was the 75th recipient of the Bledisloe Medal, first awarded in 1930.
