    A Vision of Restoration

    Of the healing of flora and fauna, people and place
    Mauri restored in a land of palimpsest
    Regeneration in all outdoor space
    Ecological emergence, nature's mess Of multiplicity, and narratives galore
    Heritage melting pot in nature's fire
    Deeper connection with every piece of lore
    Spatial design; a cultural amplifier
    Of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
    Bicultural design
    Stewardship and kaitiaki
    A partnership adamantine
    Biodiversity, belonging and partnership: the culmination?
    An Akaroa vision of restoration

    Whāinga/Goals

    G1: Rejuvenate the mauri of Akaroa Harbour; enhance the life sustaining capacity through strategic design. This will improve capability for marine restoration and mahinga kai, whilst enhancing the mana of Ōnuku Rūnanga.

    G2: Regenerate the indigenous landscape mosiac of Akaroa harbour, recreating a microcosm of indigenous ecological biodiversity in the Akaroa Ecological District.

    G3: Catalyse the development of a deeper connection between people and place, reconciling key narratives through spatial and strategic design to exemplify the ubiquity of Akaroa.
     

    G1 R1: Discharge wastewater into land-based bioinfiltration swales and wetlands.

    G1 R2: Repair the coastal ecosystem via strategic planting and habitat enhancement.

    G2 R3: Reclaim pastural land with phased indigenous revegetation.

    G2 R4: Restore indigenous fauna species through design for guild awareness.

    G3 R5: Implement a web of transport connection opportunities.

    G3 R6: Identify sites of cultural significance through spatial design.
