The 12ha Palmer’s Quarry Gardens are located in Dunedin’s North East
Valley (NEV) and are situated at the foothills of Kapukataumahaka Mount
Cargill and adjacent to the Pukehaukea Lindsay Creek, which feeds the
    Water of Leif Catchment.

For 100 years gravel was extracted from the site scarring the landscape. In
the late 1980s the quarry was transformed from wasteland to wonderland
through the establishment of award-winning gardens with publicly
accessible walking tracks. The former quarry pit was also used as an
amphitheater for outdoor concerts. Today the gardens are overgrown and
    unkept.
