Karamea is a geographically isolated place that is preserved within the era of settlement, the 1800s. It's a place of truly incredible biodiversity and natural landscape features, but this has been scarred from the pursuit of economic success. A history of forestry, farming and resource extraction has disconnected the people from the land.

    Vision
Karamea will become an independently resilient landscape at the end of the road. Sustainable food, energy and resource production systems will empower the region, preserving the unimaginable biodiversity and palimpsest of bicultural heritage. The land promises a healthy and plentiful lifestyle for those willing to play their part in the Karamea story.
