The design at this scale is based on increasing biodiversity, creating a Bike Trail to get visitors exploring the inland area of the site and acknowledging the Maori cultural history of the site on their adventures. Designing for this wider area is crucial for this project as Peketa will be the central hub for all activity. Visitors will be able to pull in and take off exploring, learning of the history and traditional Maori values, water will be clean as it enters the ocean and native wildlife will be thriving all around. A key factor of this regional design is encouraging visitors to experience inland Peketa, as the ocean to lake to river experience is what Peketa is special for.
