13 June 1986 New College Library to be built

The Lincoln College Librarian (Mr John Frampton) said the new library in Ivey Hall would provide more room for books, more study space, and, most important, would be more convenient by being on only two
levels.
The present library, in the Registry building, is on six levels.

The new library would be much easier to use and service, he said.

The new library was urgently needed because there were now many more students than when the present library opened in August 1975, and there was much more use of the library by the students.

In 1975 the library had 46,000 books today there were 76,000 books, Mr Frampton said.
