The commission, Lee Richardson’s ‘Another Table’ reflects the university’s commitment to land, food, and ecosystems, and positions the table as a site of connection and bringing people together. The design of ‘Another Table’ references the original Lincoln University exam tables from the 1970s, manufactured by the Ōtautahi-based company Tube Fab.

Alongside the table, Lee commissioned designer Johannes Bay to design wine glasses similarly referencing the Lincoln University wine departments’ tasting room glassware formerly produced by Ōtautahi-based Kaaru Glass. Manufactured in Dunedin out of laboratory-grade borosilicate glass, ISO 3591:2026 draws on the formal characteristics of the International Standards Organisation’s mandated standard wine tasting glass and reconciles it with this localised, campus-specific form. The work builds on his ongoing collaborative work with winemaker Alex Craighead, a Lincoln graduate, which explores reintroduction of vernacular meaning to existing, globally standardised wine production methods and conventions.

Johannes’ wine was available for tasting throughout parts of the public programme elements of Another Table and the ISO 3591:2026 glasses are available to loan for tastings and functionsArtwork CopyrightAll Rights ReservedArt CollectionLincoln University Art CollectionKeywordsFood | kaiVessels | tahāLincoln University history
