Aerial seed sowing, 1949. Trials were made of aerial sowing of a pasture seed mixture, in cooperation with Airwork (N.Z.) Ltd., who provided and operated the aircraft, a Tiger Moth. The objects of the trials were: - (i) To find the effect of varying the hopper valve opening and the air speed, on the rate of release of seed from the hopper. (ii) To determine the distribution in width of the different kinds of seeds in a mixture, and the effect on distribution of variation in flying heights (source).
