Description

Old Cottage in 1971 - Ponderosa. The old cottages were part of the original plan for the School of Agriculture, and though inexpensive and utilitarian had little gracious touches-a hooded window, a panelled door-not found in their modern replacements. Traditionally the homes of the farm manager, shepherd, cowman and butcher, they had sheltered a long succession of families; but by 1953 the College had built new houses on the campus and the cottages were condemned as unfit for habitation (Burns 1977).
