DescriptionThe porch 1966.

The porch was an afterthought. In January 1879, in response to a letter from Mr Strouts (principal architect of the building), the Board authorised "the erection of a Porch at the Main Entrance of the Homestead Buildings.

It provided a focal point where people could meet. It also provided the architect with a framework on which to bring together, in a nice balance of brick and stone, an impressive display of the decorative features used on other parts of the building.
