He currently teaches at Elam School of Fine Arts in Auckland.

His practice largely deals with ethnicity and identity politics, which he has critically explored with considerable impact. Robinson’s dual heritage and the country’s bicultural debates during the 1990s informed this work. The dark, crumbly areas are bitumen and sand, a representation of the land wars and sacking of Parihaka. The symbol of a god-stick, representing Māori spirituality and ancestry, together with a land surveying-tool speak to Māori and Pakeha, with the zig-zag, or ladder, between to signify the route to be taken in order to resolve past issues and achieve harmony cooperation.Artwork CopyrightAll rights reservedArt CollectionLincoln University Art CollectionKeywordsBiculturalismAbstractMāori
