In Nomadic Geometries (Dawn) Gretchen Albrecht illustrates the emergence of a new day. Trails of gold paint represent comets and stars – while geometric shapes add calm and order to the composition. Abstract art for many artists is a means of expressing their thoughts, feelings, and interpretation of the world.

Albrecht is well known for her use of bold colour and wide brush strokes upon semi-circular and oval shaped canvases. From the 1970s she began to thin her paint so that the pigment soaked and stained the canvas - allowing more freedom of expression. Albrecht has exhibited extensively for five decades and her work is held in major New Zealand public collections.
