He was an artist that worked in a diverse variety of media from tapestries and ceramics to paintings, prints and collages. He was however most well-known and appreciated for his textile designs.
This work from the collection illustrates his finely honed sense of design and abundant use of colour. Crook was known to use up to 20 screens to create his colourful prints. This work also draws from the distinct world of symbols created by Crook over his lifetime – both abstract and figurative.

Apart from his inclusion in many collections in New Zealand, Crook has achieved important international commissions from USA, Tonga, Samoa and Mexico.
