Guiding the aesthetics of the work is the influence of the artist’s father, Dr Ian Blair, who lectured at Lincoln University for three decades. Strong striking lines and structures refer to his pursuit of microbiological research and close observation of the environment under a microscope.
Sweeping arcs and rhythmic motions of line and pattern also sing to the artist’s mother and her passion for music. Created amid the uncertainty and isolation of Covid-19 restrictions, the title also reflects feelings of stasis and disruption evident during that time.
