Her Excellency, Lady Islington

Weekly Press caption: "His Excellency the Governor, Lord Islington, paid a visit to the Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln on November 1st. His Excellency was accompanied by Lady Islington, Miss Stapleton-Cotton, Captain Shannon, A.D.C., and the Hon. E. C. J. Stevens, M.L.C., chairman of the Board of Governors. The party motored out from Christchurch, and arrived at the College shortly before eleven o'clock. They were received by the director, Mr R. Alexander, and Mrs Alexander. They made a visit of inspection through the College buildings, and afterwards his Excellency walked over the farm and inspected the stock. The visit was very opportunely timed, as shearing was in full swing, and the party had the opportunity of observing the deftness with which the students manipulated the machines. The farm and College surroundings were looking in their best order, and the visitors found plenty to interest them during their brief tour."
