The 1935 Rugby Team: Of the 14 survivors of the original group photograph of 18 in 1935, 12 attended, viz. I. D. Blair (captain), R. D. Dick, Christchurch; D. R. Wilkie, Christchurch; P. A. Deans, Fernside; R. G. Deans, Darfield; H. H. Deans, Darfield; H. B. Hay, Mayfield, S. K. Carswell, Opotiki; M. C. Armstrong, Christchurch; W. D. Robinson, Christchurch; L. Earl, Timaru; J. S. Maclean, Te Kuiti. This group also in- cluded A. C. Wright, who had been President of the Students’ Association in 1935. They all enjoyed themselves and tried to convince the company that they were the best football team the College ever had, although Dr. I. W. Weston who proposed their toast intimated that he did not think they were among the immortals.
