Student rural and agricultural volunteer group the Handy Landys' selfless work helping farmers in the Hawke's Bay region following Cyclone Gabrielle earlier this year was recognised through being given a new award, the Supreme Gold Award for Service Excellence - Voluntary Contribution of the Year.

The awards were presented by Lincoln University Vice-Chancellor Professor Grant Edwards.
