    About

Robin George McFarlane. Lincoln University records with sorrow the passing of former long-serving staff member Dr Robin McFarlane, who died on 5 November 2021, aged 72.

Robin was appointed in December 1987 as Officer-in-Charge of the Blood Typing Laboratory in the then Animal Sciences Group. It was a period when Lincoln College was involved in equine research and Robin held a Veterinary Science degree in addition to his PhD. His brother is also a vet.

Robin subsequently held positions as Group Leader, Cell Biology, and Senior Research Officer in Molecular Biosciences. He completed 30 years of service in 2018.

Rob is remembered as a very genial colleague and friend, open-minded, accepting, welcoming and relaxed. ‘An all-round nice guy’, as most staff would agree. He loved music and regularly attended campus concerts organised by the Lincoln University Music Society.
