Auckland, Wynyard Quarter - Completing the Puzzle - Joel Adams

Major Design

Description

Design Vision: To complete the puzzle of the Auckland Waterfront through the developement of the Wynyard Quarter, creating links east and west along the waterfront, whilst revitalising the urban community.

Design Drivers: To connect the Wynyard Quarter to the existing waterfront I proposed a node of the Fish Market which is centralised to the area. This allowed the formation of circulation patterns that linked this node to existing nodes. I also used the idea of creating edges, to establish the public access to the waters edge for the public. I also proposed green links between existing and proposed parks to create stronger corridors and ecological connections throughout the greater Auckland City.
