2012 Greening the Rubble New Brighton

Students from School of Landscape Architecture, Lincoln University with Greening the Rubble Project/Living Streets Aotearoa are creating Beach Garden in New Brighton.

Where did the Project happen? 21-25 Beresford Street, New Brighton, by bus terminus.

who were the Main people who worked on the Project? Landscape and other Lincoln University students led by Neil Challenger, some Greening the Rubble local volunteers, plus Don & Rhys, for an intensive few days in September 2012.

How many people were involved in creating the Project? About 45 student-days of labour. 

Project Description: A garden across three titles along Beresford Street: former cinema, tyre depot and part of a car park. Timber boardwalk, ice-plants, tyre and tool sculptures, steel wigwam growing frames, ridge for wildflowers, labyrinth paint pathway and optimistically-donated turf lawn (dry climate, sand soil).
