A photo of Ploughman Cup. At the beginning of 1936 a Challenge Cup was presented by a donor, who prefers to remain anonymous, for a ploughing match among the students. On the cup are two Latin inscriptions, which being interpreted, are:- "No honour is too great to be given to the plough" and "They who take up the sword shall perish by the sword." After several postponements due to wet weather, the ploughing match was held in Field 19 on September 17. A number of farmers in the district lent ploughs and six horses were borrowed from Ashley Dene. The ploughing was done with double furrow ploughs and three horse teams, each competitor ploughing about a quarter of an acre. Messrs. W. O. Rennie, J. R. D. Deans, J. Rickerby and R. Peach acted as judges, and decided the result as follows:- 1st - L. R. Morris, 83 points; 2nd - J. S. Bowker, 74 points; 3rd, W. A. McKellar, 72 points. Colonel Stafford offered a prize for the competitor who managed his team the best. This prize was won by L. R. Morris
