14 June 2005 Centennial Call Goes Out to Waikato 'Lincolnites'

The country's oldest university alumni association marks its centenary this year and the National Agricultural Fieldays gives all Waikato members a chance to hear about planned celebrations.

The Lincoln University Alumni Association was founded in 1905 as the Canterbury Agricultural College Old Students' Association and it held its first get-together in Christchurch on 11 November 100 years ago.

Centennial celebrations are scheduled for November this year and the alumni association's manager, Katherine Prusas, is at the Lincoln University site at Mystery Creek this week keen to meet old students from the Waikato and surrounding areas who would like to be kept informed about what's planned.

If you're a past Lincoln student, call by site number E24 or PA19 and meet Katherine along with other members of the six-strong Lincoln University fieldays team.

Lincoln University is a long-standing supporter of the fieldays, and last year Natural Resources Engineering lecturer Ian Domigan, a prize winning engineer and inventor with several patents to his name, won two gold medals in farm invention competitions at the fieldays for the design and development of predator traps.

He won gold in both the Prototype and Equipment categories, the first time the "double" has been achieved by one individual in the history of the National Fieldays. Ian is back again this year along with other Natural Resources Engineering staff members from Lincoln University.
