Vision
This project seeks to move Timaru and South Canterbury away from traditional farming practices with the aim of reducing environmental impacts. Tourism opportunities are created in place to stimulate alternative revenue streams. This is achieved through the establishment of a new leg of the Alps to Ocean cycles trail from Takapo to Timaru, culminating at Sir Basil Arthur Park. Interventions along the trail and within the park will take visitors on a journey which emboldens Maori heritage and strengths environmental awareness.
