Design Vision for the Picton Foreshore: Picton’s foreshore should be a place that serves both locals and visitors, that provides a wide variety of uses and activities, that bustles with movement during the day and provides a quiet recluse at night. It should be accessible for all people of all ages regardless of physical capability. It deserves to be a place people recognise as the image of Picton. The foreshore is focused on providing recreation, entertainment and a venue to support local industry and the arts and crafts of the region. Picton is also quite often peoples’ first and last point of contact with the South Island. The market would serve as an introduction or farewell with a taste of all Marlborough, the Sounds, and Tasman District have to offer. Fish and shellfish from Nelson and Golden Bay, stone fruit from Tasman and Blenheim, wine, arts and crafts, all can become a part of the image of Picton and her foreshore; a taste of what the area has to offer.
