George Rennie (1886-87, Certificate of Agriculture), the Bledisloe Medallist, 1932. George Rennie farmed at Lincoln 1893 to 1916 then developed a Waikato dairy property and doubled its butterfat production per cow after 16 years. Purchased his Taupiri farm ‘Netherlea’ in 1916. Lifted stock carrying capacity remarkably and attributed his success to judicious use of fertiliser and lime and choice of suitable grasses for permanent pastures. Planted shelter belts on all parts of the farm. A great believer in concrete work for permanent buildings and fences. George Rennie died in 1944.
