Frederick Albert Hosking (Diploma course 1887-1888)
Obituary: MR F. A. HOSKING. The death occurred on Sunday at Master ton of Mr Frederick Albert Hosking, a well-known resident of the town for many years. Mr. Hosking, who was 66 years of age, had been in indifferent health for some time. Born at Ross, Westland, he was the second Bon of the late Dr. W. H. Hosking and Mrs Hosking, who were closely identified with Masterton many years ago. After commencing his education in Masterton he attended the Wanganui Collegiate School and later Lincoln Agricultural College. Subsequently, he took up sheep-farming, for a period at Wangaehu and later at Linton, after which he spent three years in Queensland and then returned to New Zealand, going to the Bay of Plenty before finally settling in Masterton. where he had resided for the last 20 years. He is survived by a widow, two sons, Messrs W. N. A. and H. A. Hosking, Masterton and Christchurch respectively. and five daughters. Mefedames D. M. McDougall, Morrinsville. and H. C. Hope, Pelorus Sound and Misses E. C. and D. Hosking, Masterton and Miss E. Hosking of the staff of the Palmerston, North Public Hospital.
