28 February 1995 New Pro-Chancellor For Lincoln University

Christchurch accountant Gill Cox, a partner in Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Christchurch, has been elected Pro-Chancellor of Lincoln University.

Mr Cox succeeds Dr Nick Brown of Christchurch, who did not seek re-election.

The appointment was made at today's meeting (28 Feb.) of Lincoln University Council, which also saw the re-election of Mr Malcolm Cameron of Wellington as Chancellor.

Mr Cox joined Lincoln's Council in April last year representing the central organisation of employers. He is an M.Com.(Hons) graduate of the University of Canterbury and a Fellow of the NZ Society of Accountants.

A partner with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu since 1971, Mr Cox holds directorships in a number of private companies and in 1992 was appointed a director of Healthlink South.

During the formation years of the NZ Qualifications Authority Mr Cox served on the National Academic Standing Committee of that Authority and he currently serves on the Advisory Board of the NZ Universities Academic Audit Unit.

He was National President of the NZ Society of Accountants in 1992-93.
