The Ngāti Moki Trophy for Māori Leadership is awarded to a person who has shown considerable Māori leadership at Lincoln University and commitment to Māori development either as a student, graduate, staff member or associate of the University. The third winner of this Trophy, and a person whom we think exemplifies the characteristics of Moki, through their commitment to Maori development and, particularly, Maori student achievement at Lincoln University, is Caitriona Cameron. Caitriona has had a strong record of continuous service to Lincoln University since 1995. In her role as a Learning Advisor within the Student Learning Centre (now Library, Teaching and Learning) her interest in, and dedication to Maori student academic achievement and success, became quickly evident and has continued unabated. Over the years she has consistently shown a real patience and genuine empathy for Maori students, understood the barriers to their learning, provided them with the skills and confidence to express themselves, particularly through enhanced writing skills, and in the process, guided many Maori students through to the successful completion of their diplomas and degrees.
