This is a biography of a notable New Zealander who was born in Australia of English parents. It is the story of a remarkable man - Eric Raymond Hudson - whose varied talents were underpinned by a strict morality, sense of duty, single-minded determination, fairness and concern for the underdog. These are all personal characteristics that will become evident as the tale unfolds. It is an account of a life that was not easy. Hudson lost his mother when he was child, he was wounded as a young man in the First World War and personal rectitude compelled him to quit his job for premature retirement in middle age.
