The purpose of this regional context is to illustrate how National park village currently functions as a gateway destination to Tongariro National park and other adjacent natural attractions. Through this inventory it is clear that NPV has high potential to mitigate the effects of overcrowding at destinations through adoption of destination staging and a resilient public transport system (see context map left). This also shows the high potential National Park Village has for absorbing increasing visitation numbers, and become and all season destination with a variety of leisure and entertainment options. At the regional scale it becomes apparent how opportunities facilitate high demand for the design proposal and is therefore appropriate.
