8 May 1992 New Professor of Accounting and Finance at Lincoln

Forty-one-year-old Dr David Goodwin of Christchurch has been appointed Professor of Accounting and Finance at Lincoln University.

Born in Auckland, where he was a foundation pupil of Aorere College, Mangere East, Professor Goodwin is a graduate of Massey and Otago universities and the University of Adelaide from which he holds a Ph.D. in Accounting. He also holds ACA and CPA qualifications.

Since April last year he has been a Reader in Accounting at Lincoln and since October, Acting Head of the Department of Accounting and Valuation. He is now confirmed in that headship.

Before joining the Lincoln staff in 1991 he was Head of the School of Business at the University of South Australia, Adelaide.

Professor Goodwin's research interests centre on public sector accounting, specifically with regional councils, and environmental accounting.

He is committee member of the Canterbury Westland branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, and on the branch's corporate sector committee. He is also a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants.

Professor Goodwin is married with two children. Wife Jenny is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at Lincoln and holds the Peter Barr Research Fellowship of the New Zealand Society of Accountants.

Professor Goodwin succeeds Professor Roger Juchau who left Lincoln in October 1990 to become the foundation Professor of Accounting and Management at the University of Western Sydney.
