12 July 2011 Response to CTV question regarding international students and earthquake connections

A response to question from NZ Broadcasting School student Ranjani at CTV.

Lincoln University is not aware of any foreign nationals from among its students who quit their studies and left Christchurch as a direct result of recommendations from their consulates, embassies or other diplomatic agencies following the city's earthquakes. However, the University's Director, International, Ian Douthwaite, says it is not unusual for Governments of any country to issue travel and other "advisories" to their citizens in cases of civil and other disruptions abroad. The New Zealand Government certainly does it for New Zealand nationals living in or intending to travel to locations where there are known hazards.

Lincoln University, New Zealand's specialist land-based university, continues to be unaffected by the earthquake aftershocks and is fully operational. The University's buildings and grounds are all confirmed by engineers as safe and secure and the delivery of all courses, programmes and examinations is running as scheduled.
