“These photos were taken while investigating how well the uni supports students who cycle in terms of infrastructure, for my SOCI602 project (S2 2022). These bikes had been in place long enough to both rust and be swarmed by ivy, though - not exactly a current means of transport!

This is my abiding memory of the Burns building.”

This photo was submitted to Living Heritage Tikaka Tuku Iho for the exhibition "Ode to an Icon: The Bold and Brutal of the Burns Building" to celebrate the building's history as it was demolished in 2024. The exhibition was curated by Library staff and held in Waimarie July/August 2024.
