The Waimakariri River connects the New Zealand's Southern Alps to the Pacific Ocean. The river is a major flooding hazard for Christchurch City and a significant recreational asset for some residents of Canterbury. In combination with current renovations of the flood infrastructure a regional park is being developed along the flood plain of the river by Environment Canterbury. The current form of the park has been developed by engineers and planners and seeks to address current issues associated with use patterns.

This project details a vision for the pak that crosses the bundaries of the flood plain. The park will develop both ecological and recreation connections accross the region in conjuction with a wider variety of recreation activities.
