McCormacks Bay Reserve is a triangular area of land and water that has been separated from the main body of the Estuary by the main road causeway and from the surrounding hills by McCormack's Bay road.

The vision is to reactivate and promote the sense of place along the southern margin of the Avon-Heathcote Estuary, through enhancing vibrant and sustainable community open space with strong ecological and cultural values. To develop McCormacks Bay to be the open space that contributes to the significance of the estuarine ecosystem. The park shall exploit the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and revealing its underlying ecology, as well as cater a variety of uses to enhance recreational activities that engages the emotional experience of the landscape.
