The section of coast from Owhiro Bay to Sinclair Head is located on the south coast of Wellington, North Island, New Zealand, 15 minutes drive from the Wellington CBD. The site faces south into Cook Strait and receives the full force of southerly storms, while remaining jcalm with the prevailing northerly wind. Owhiro Bay is characterised by a line of houses tucked between the steep hillside and the sea. Around the point to the west of Owhiro Bay is a recently abandoned greywacke quarry - the negative space for the construction of the city.
