14 October 1997 Labour Department delegation in community employment talks with Lincoln University

A delegation from the Department of Labour's Community Employment Group, Wellington, visited Lincoln University on 14 October to discuss an alliance between the Group and the University in the area of rural development projects.

Led by the Group's General Manager, Parekura Horomia, the delegation met Lincoln's Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Roger Field and the Director of the University's Centre for Continuing Education, Don Crabb.

Topics discussed included ways in which the two parties could collaborate in the delivery of a variety of projects ranging from community building to distance learning in rural areas.

While at Lincoln Mr Horomia also delivered a guest lecture to the University's Maori Studies students entitled 'Community Economic Development – Maori and the Economy '.
