River Flows in Woolston - Chuwei Zhang

There are two main typical elements in Woolston. One is natural elements from the Heathcote River and the Port Hill, the other one is man-made elements from the industry along the Heathcote River and the Lyttelton Railway. In this design, all the materials come from these two elements, which strengthens the identity of this place and protects the balance between the nature and human beings. As for the natural materials, like Jarrah, Taun Akwa, Vitex, all these timbers are native timber. Pebble and aggregate can be used in paving and can be integrated in the environment naturally. The man-made materials, like corten steel, epoxy resin can help to create a industrial atmosphere, which is an important part in the history of Woolston.
