27 February 2003 Inaugural New Zealand Meeting of New Environment Institute

A new professional body for environmental professionals in New Zealand has been formed.

It is a New Zealand chapter of the Environmental Institute of Australia which has now changed its constitution and name to include New Zealand and is known as the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.

The inaugural meeting of the New Zealand chapter of what is now an Australasian institute, will be held on Friday afternoon, 28 February, in the Environment Canterbury (ECAN) premises, 58 Kilmore Street.

The meeting will be preceded by the first "event" organised by the newly expanded organisation, a seminar with the CEO of the Ministry for the Environment, Barry Carbon, which starts at 1.30pm.

Barry Carbon will talk about changes within the Environment Ministry and the challenges facing environmental professionals in New Zealand.

The New Zealand Vice-President of the newly expanded Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand is former Environment Court Judge, Associate Professor Peter Skelton of Lincoln University.
