30 July 1999 Jazz Again at Lincoln University

Jazz is back on the musical menu for the next free concert presented by Lincoln University Music Society. Christchurch jazz singer Andrea Millward, who is also a staff member at the University, is the featured artiste.

Following on from last year's highly successful jazz concert, Andrea will present a programme of popular standards and contemporary numbers to the accompaniment of Ben Gerard on piano and Richard on upright bass.

The concert is on Wednesday 4 August in Lincoln University's Memorial Hall, starting at 12.40pm and members of the public from the district and townships around the University are welcome to join staff and students for the recital. Admission is free.

Included in Andrea's programme will be – Lullaby of Birdland (George Shearing), A Night In Tunisia (Dizzy Gillespie), Let's Do It (Cole Porter), I'm Old Fashioned (Jerome Kern), Softly As In A Morning Sunrise (Romberg & Hammerstein), Peel Me A Grape (Frishberg) and In Walked Bud (Theolonius Monk).

Two other concerts are planned by Lincoln University Music Society for this month – one by the recently formed Lincoln University Choir and a Chamber Music New Zealand presentation by pianist Emma Sayers.
