16 June 1999 Lincoln and UNITEC Sign Teaching Agreement

Lincoln University and Unitec Institute of Technology, Auckland, today (16.6.99) signed an agreement for shared teaching in the property studies area.

Specifically the agreement means students may complete the first year of the Lincoln University Bachelor of Commerce (Valuation and Property Management) degree at Unitec in Auckland and students doing Unitec's Bachelor of Business Studies degree will have access to a Lincoln University introductory property studies subject as an elective.

Lincoln University will teach Introduction to Real Estate (VAPM 101) on the Unitec campus and students who pass it plus other appropriate Unitec BBS subjects will be entitled to transfer to Lincoln University with advanced standing. Unitec will recognise a pass in VAPM 101 as completion of one elective subject for its Bachelor of Business Studies degree.

The agreement was signed by Lincoln University's Vice-Chancellor Dr Frank Wood and Unitec's Chief Executive and President Dr John Webster.

Professor Grant Cushman, head of Lincoln University's Undergraduate School, which will oversee the programme at the Lincoln end, said he hoped the agreement would be the ‘seed’ for other initiatives between the two institutions. Lincoln already has a staff exchange programme with Unitec in the Landscape Architecture area.
