12 December 2002 Former Iona student now northern liaison officer for Lincoln

Former Iona College deputy head girl Nicola Martin of northern Hawkes Bay has been appointed North Island liaison officer for Lincoln University.

Nicola, who was also head girl in the boarding house at Iona, graduated from Lincoln with a Bachelor of Recreation Management degree in tourism at this year's capping ceremony.

Nicola has a rural background having been brought up on Shannon Station inland from Wairoa. In addition to being a Lincoln graduate she has other connections with the University. Her brother David, now a stock manager in Waipukurau, has a Lincoln B.Com.(Ag.) degree and grandfather Tom Carpenter did Diploma of Agriculture studies there.

Nicola's extracurricular interests include riding and she is a member of the Mahia Hunt Club.

Hamilton-based, Nicola has taken over as North Island liaison team member from fellow Lincoln graduate Katherine Prusas, who is now based on the Lincoln campus with the University's International Centre.

Nicola's 'patch' covers the whole of the North Island with the exception of the Wellington area which is covered by the University's two campus­-based liaison officers Renata Cooper and Jane Edwards.
